Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast October 31, 2019

Happy Halloween! It will be one of the colder Halloweens in a while, and we continue to see good moisture working through Ohio. In fact, we are calling our outlook this morning wetter overall, as we are boosting rain potential farther out in the 10 day period and also the 11-16 day window. Today will be day 2 of our wet pattern nearby, with additional rain today, which may end as wet snow overnight tonight in some northern areas. We are looking for an additional .25″-.75″ across all of Ohio today, and in far northwest areas overnight, we wont rule out a coating to an inch of wet snow on cars or grassy surfaces. Nothing the really sticks and causes problems, though. We see clouds hold through midday tomorrow and we wont rule out a sprinkle or flurry still tomorrow morning, but generally we get partly to mostly sunny skies by over most of the state tomorrow afternoon.

We stay dry for Saturday and Sunday, although on Saturday we see some lake effect cloud cover over far northern parts of Ohio. Lake effect snow is possible in far NE Ohio, but generally we don’t think that will be a widespread feature. Temps stay below normal all weekend, even with better statewide sun on Sunday.

Southern winds return Monday, with mostly sunny skies. That will help to boost temps a bit to normal and even slightly above normal levels. However, it will be short lived, as our next front is on the way. Clouds increase Tuesday and we have scattered showers from late afternoon through the overnight and into early Wednesday. Rain totals will be .2″-.8″ with coverage at 70% of Ohio. We see a bit of sun behind the frontal passage, but only briefly. Our late week system is arriving a little faster now, with rain and thunderstorms for next Thursday and Friday. Rain may end as some wet snow Friday afternoon. This system looks wetter in addition to coming faster. So, we expect rains of .75″-2″ with coverage of 90% of Ohio.

We finish the 10 day window with partly sunny skies and colder air next Saturday, and then continue the dry push through the weekend on Sunday the 10th. Rains are back for Monday afternoon (the 11th) through Tuesday the 12th. These rains still look impressive, with rain totals of .5″-1.25″ and potential coverage of 100% of Ohio. We are partly to mostly sunny for the balance of the extended 11-16 day forecast window.
