Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast September 20, 2019

A few minor tweaks to the outlook this morning as we head into the weekend. WE still see only one “good” rain threat, but the atmosphere may end up being a little more unsettled on those other days where rain is not expected as much. Here is what we mean.

Today turns out partly to mostly sunny and warm. Conditions should be very similar to yesterday. Tomorrow also remains warm, but we expect a bit of an increase in clouds, in fact, we cant rule out a few chances for isolated showers across Ohio, bringing a few hundredths to a tenth…but coverage will be under 20%. WE are back to fully dry weather all day Sunday, but clouds start to thicken up late afternoon and evening ahead of our cold front arrival.

That front moves through Ohio on Monday. Rains do not look all that impressive, and we really think that thunderstorms will not be an issue anywhere. Therefore, we are lowering rain totals to a few hundredths to half an inch with coverage at 80% of the state. A majority of that will be .25″ or less. This system, as we mentioned yesterday, is falling apart and losing its moisture as it moves east, so we just don’t get very much here. If the front can tap into another source of moisture, rain totals can be higher.

Tuesday through Sunday of next week we are starting to see a rather interesting pattern. The overall feel is somewhat unsettled, as there is just a bit of moisture dancing around the state through that 6 day stretch. However, there is no organization to go along with that minor moisture…so we don’t think it develops into much. For now, we will be looking at a mix of clouds and sun each day, and while we cant rule out that isolated shower or two on any given day, we think the overall period will be mostly dry. Temps will be cooler behind the front on Monday, but will not be cold. In fact, one could expect near normal temps as we finish out the month.

For the extended period, we have showers for Monday the 30th, but minor totals, and after a dry start to October on Tuesday, we have a significant round of rain and thunderstorms for Wednesday the 2nd. Those rains can total .1″-1″ with coverage at 90%. Then we are dry to finish the 11-16 day period for Thursday the 3rd through Saturday the 5th.
