The 5000 Stalk Devastator, released by Yetter Farm Equipment, recently received recognition from an industry-leading news organization. On Jan. 15, 2015, at the 23rd annual National No-Tillage Conference, No-Till Farmer recognized the Stalk Devastator as No-Till Product of the Year for 2014 in the residue management category.
“We are once again honored to have the Devastator recognized for its performance in corn fields across North America,” said Derek Allensworth, marketing manager for Yetter Farm Equipment. “Each year a growing number of farmers experience how it effectively reduces damage caused to tires and tracks, leading to less downtime and expensive equipment replacement. And the importance of residue management is more evident than ever. The Devastator has proven it provides the first step to effectively manage corn stalks in no-till and tillage operations by flattening the corn stalks to come in contact with the soil.”
In the past, Yetter’s 5000 Stalk Devastator has received several honorable mentions and recognitions. In 2013, Farm Industry News chose the Devastator as one of the most innovative agricultural products of 2012. As one of 20 Farm Industry News 2013 FinOvation Award winners, the Devastator was chosen because it represented an innovative new product for row-crop farming. The Devastator also received honorable mention in the residue management category at the National No-Tillage Conference in January of 2013.
The Yetter 5000 Stalk Devastator is a solution to premature tire/track wear and damage caused by crop stubble. “Today’s hybrids are designed to resist disease, insects, and wind, but the tough stalks are destroying tires while also proving difficult to manage during the following cropping season. This leads to expensive replacement of tires and often additional equipment or passes in the field to manage the residue,” said Jim Lascelles, service manager at Yetter Farm Equipment.
The rollers on the Yetter 5000 Stalk Devastator push stalks over, crushing them, saving tires or tracks from the stalks. The rollers reduce stubble damage to the tires, wires, and hydraulic hoses on combines, trucks, tractors, and seeding and tillage implements.
